2023–2024 UCLA Distinguished Teaching Awards Call for Nominations

Dear Colleagues:

Every year, we celebrate remarkable talent in an area of UCLA’s core academic mission: teaching. Recognizing excellence in teaching benefits the awardees, focuses our collective attention on this aspect of our mission, and reminds us to celebrate and learn from the best among us.

We are delighted to announce the upcoming nomination period for the UCLA Distinguished Teaching Awards available to faculty and teaching assistants. Information about the awards is provided below and on the Distinguished Teaching Awards website.

Please give this invitation careful consideration and consult broadly to identify the most qualified and deserving nominees.

Senate FacultyAcademic Senate members (members of the following series: Professor, Professor in Residence and Professor of Clinical X, as well as Acting Professors, Acting Associate Professors, full-time Lecturers with Security of Employment and full-time Senior Lecturers with Security of Employment) at the time of nomination.Jan. 8, 2024to Feb. 2, 2024at 5:00 p.m
Teaching AssistantCurrently enrolled graduate students who teach and serve an apprenticeship under the tutelage and supervision of regular faculty at the time of nomination who have served or are serving and have at least one additional year of enrollment.Feb. 5, 2024to March 1, 2024at 5:00 p.m.
Non-Senate FacultyNon-Senate Faculty (faculty in the Adjunct series, Clinical compensated series, Visiting Professors, Acting Assistant Professors, Lecturers and Academic Administrators) at the time of nomination.March 4, 2024to April 1, 2024at 5:00 p.m.

Complete eligibility criteria and nomination instructions for each award are available on the Distinguished Teaching Awards website. Please read the eligibility requirements carefully before preparing your nomination. Note: academic administrators are now included in the list of eligible titles for the Non-Senate Faculty awards.

Nominations are welcome from qualified individuals in departments, interdepartmental degree programs, institutes or other academic units offering undergraduate, graduate or professional degrees at UCLA.

Late or incomplete nomination packages will not be accepted.
