Program Director for the Holistic Evaluation of Teaching (HET) Initiative

Glory Tobiason, Ph.D., is the Program Director for the Holistic Evaluation of Teaching (HET) Initiative at the UCLA Teaching and Learning Center, where she and her team work with departments to design and adopt more meaningful ways of evaluating and supporting teaching. She also holds an appointment as a Lecturer in the School of Education and Information Studies and is an Affiliated Scholar at the National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing.

Glory has more than two decades of experience as an educator and instructional coach. She’s taught students and supported teachers in a variety of contexts: from Tanzanian secondary schools to Cambodian and Turkish elementary schools to charter schools in the United States. At UCLA, she’s taught graduate and undergraduate courses in research methods and developed programs that support faculty as educators.

Glory holds a Ph.D. in Social Research Methodology. For several years, she has conducted and published qualitative and mixed-methods research focused on understanding and supporting the work of teachers. An inveterate introvert, Glory enjoys reading, writing, cooking, and waking up early.
