Hannah Whang Sayson, Ph.D., is the Assistant Director of Data Analytics for the UCLA Teaching and Learning Center where she leads campus research, evaluation, and technical assistance efforts, including the annual UCLA Senior Survey.
Hannah’s service to the field of education spans two decades, as an instructor, administrator, researcher, program evaluator, and project director. In addition to her work at the TLC, her research and scholarship include federally and foundation-funded collaborations with the California State University System, the Higher Education Research Institute, and Center for Education Policy Research at Harvard University. Her research examines students’ pathways to and through higher education with the aim of advancing equity in education policy and practice, and applies methodological tools such as multilevel analyses of large-scale quantitative data, quasi-experimental design, survey design, and focused mixed-methods.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in Asian languages and civilizations from Amherst College, master’s degree in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and master’s degree and Ph.D. in Education from UCLA. She has served as an instructor and committee member for UCLA’s Undergraduate Student Initiated Education program since 2016.
