Scholarly Interests & Activities
Broadly speaking, my research program has focused on four essential components influencing student affect in the STEM classroom: mindset, interest, personal identity, and learning experiences. Recent projects have involved analyses of the social network dynamics of teaching and learning, the use of classroom observation data to identify and analyze instructor-level variation in active learning implementation strategies, and the inclusion of transgender and gender nonconforming students (trans* students) in biology classrooms and biology education research efforts.
