Lead Instructional Designer for Learning Spaces Pedagogy

Kim DeBacco, Ph.D., is the Lead Instructional Designer for Learning Spaces Pedagogy at the UCLA Teaching and Learning Center. In this role, she is leading a comprehensive, multi-year strategic plan to advance research-based, inclusive, and technology-enhanced teaching practices in UCLA classrooms.

Since coming to California in 2008, and prior to joining UCLA, she worked in instructional design roles at UC Santa Barbara and UC Riverside. In Australia, she served as a tenured lecturer in Flexible/Online Teaching & Learning in the Institute for Teaching & Learning at the University of Sydney and in the Academic Development Unit at La Trobe University in Melbourne.

Kim earned a Ph.D. Higher Education. She is proficient to different degrees in six languages, loves “deep” European movies, global cuisines and cooking, contemporary art, hiking, reading, travel, life-coaching, and enjoys reality TV series about transformations — a purely sociological interest, of course.
