What to Expect in this Showcase

With a large-enrollment course, SOC 1 integrated various course design solutions to provide students with different types of interactions with course materials, lectures, and chances to communicate with peers. It also prepared formative and summative assessment activities using additional features in Bruin Learn.

  • Build knowledge checkpoints into lecture videos to allow students to interact with lecture content
  • Invite guest lecturers to augment students’ experience with specific topics and introduce them to the work being done by sociologists at UCLA
  • Use Rubrics to track discussion participation
  • Use Group Set to manage large class discussion
  • It might be helpful to see how this class manages a very large enrollment.
