What to Expect in this Showcase

Ally works to make course content accessible. It checks for accessibility issues and generates alternative formats, guides instructors on how to improve their course content, and provides institutional-wide reporting on content accessibility. Here is a link to the Ally Accessibility Tool

  • What is Ally 
  • How students can use the tool to improve the accessibility of documents
  • How faculty can use the Ally tool remediate documents and 
  • How the Ally tool can bring higher awareness to the accessibility needs of students with disabilities
  • Examples of using Ally in Bruin Learn to make course materials more accessible

Presenters Bio

Travis Lee is the Disabilities and Computing Coordinator at DCP. He has over 13 years of experience in education and training technology. Travis has his research focused on creating innovative and interactive learning for students of all ages with an emphasis on a simple and engaging user experience.

Carolanne Link is the UWAI Project Manager at DCP. She helps educate the campus about disability culture and accessibility best practices, hoping to change the hearts and minds of the general population to be amazing allies to the disabled community. UWAI helps elevate UCLA’s digital accessibility through web development, digital document trainings, cultural seminars, advisements and evaluations, and even social media presence.
