Instructor Wellbeing Initiative
These resources were developed to support all instructors in prioritizing their wellbeing and that of their students.
Overview
The UCLA Teaching & Learning Center (TLC) uses instructor wellbeing as a conceptual framework for supporting all educators in our campus community as people and professionals. We understand personal and workplace wellbeing as intertwined and define wellbeing holistically as the relationship among hope, agency, and relatedness. These three needs together influence wellbeing and may be thwarted or supported by the institutional, environmental, and social contexts in which learning happens.
These needs must also be fulfilled so instructors may approach students with compassion and foster engaged learning communities that welcome all students. By collaborating with instructors to share wellbeing strategies applicable in personal and pedagogical settings, our goal is to collectively create and advance a university culture that champions wellbeing.
