AI in Teaching Faculty Fellows Program

The AI in Teaching Faculty Fellows Program is a year-long, cohort-based initiative that embeds faculty experts within the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) to advance a campus-wide understanding of the impact and best practices for implementing AI tools. Fellows will partner with TLC staff to co-create student-facing content and discipline-specific instructional resources that ensure all members of the learning community operate from a shared foundational understanding of how to use AI tools critically, ethically, and safely.

They will also facilitate dialogue with peers around specific disciplinary teaching challenges as well as contribute to communities of practice to share their perspectives. Fellows will support efforts to sustain, adapt, and scale the TLC’s generative AI resources and programming beyond the fellowship year to strengthen its long-term capacity to support instructors and engage campus partners.

Program Details

Fellows commit to the following during the 12-month program:

  • Participating in the cohort’s kickoff meeting to be scheduled in late September or early October 2026.
  • Participating in quarterly cohort meetings and individual check-ins (1-2 hours per month)
  • Consulting on the development of educational development programs and teaching resources, including a student-facing module on AI literacy.
  • Developing and facilitating a discipline-based project around AI in teaching, with support from TLC staff and educational innovation grants.
  • Guest speaking or presenting at AI-focused department, school, or division level events and TLC programs, such as the Faculty Learning Community (FLC), Community of Practice, or Symposium.
  • Authoring an AI “commentary” (500-800 words) that discusses the impact and reflects on AI in their teaching and/or their respective fields.
  • Completing a Fellows Experience Survey.
