Director of Instructor Engagement and Educational Development

Andrea Aebersold is the Director of Instructor Engagement and Educational Development for the UCLA Teaching and Learning Center where she oversees faculty instructional development programming and resources.

She has more than 15 years experience of teaching, facilitating, and grant writing in higher education. Before joining UCLA, Andrea was the inaugural Executive Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Montana State University–Billings, where she oversaw faculty instructional and professional development and researched faculty wellbeing and institutional change. Prior to that, Andrea was Director of Faculty Instructional Development at University of California Irvine, specializing in active learning and pedagogical wellness. 

Andrea earned a bachelor’s degree in English from University of Redlands, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in English from Washington State University. Her research interests include active learning, pedagogical wellness, and metacognition. She has been awarded grants from the National Science Foundation, California Learning Lab, and the POD Network. She enjoys traveling with her family, reading, and summer afternoon baseball games.
