UCLA Digital and Technology Solutions and Bruin Learn administrators are continuing to monitor for delays or unexpected issues with the restoration of UCLA’s Canvas environment. On Thursday, May 7, Erin Sanders O’Leary, Vice Provost for Teaching & Learning, and Lucy Avetisyan, Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer, shared this message via BruinPost.

There is currently an outage with Bruin Learn (Canvas). Digital & Technology Solutions and the Teaching and Learning Center are aware of the issue. Instructure, the parent company of Canvas, is currently responding to a nationwide outage affecting thousands of institutions. 

In addition to the measures taken by Instructure, UCLA has proactively disabled local access to Bruin Learn outof precaution. The Teaching and Learning Center website is being updated to provide information about instructional continuity options for faculty. 

For the most recent updates on this incident, please access UCLA’s System Status page or Instructure’s Status page. The UC Office of the President is also providing updates to the UC community as the situation evolves.
