TLC shares resources for maintaining instructional continuity
To prepare instructors for success in the fall quarter, the TLC shared a group of resources for maintaining instructional continuity. These resources were developed to support departmental leadership teams, instructors, and TAs in maintaining instructional continuity in case of potential campus disruptions.
Events
10+10 Pop-up Series launches for fall
The educational developers and designers in the TLC are offering a series of 10-minute pop-up sessions on topics related to course design, teaching, learning, and learning assessment — followed by 10 minutes of Q&A. ID Showcase kicks off with tools for building learning communities
The TLC instructional designers collaborate with faculty, librarians, software companies, and others to showcase interesting courses and uses of instructional technologies. The first Instructional Design (ID) Showcase event of the fall quarter will be held on Thursday, October 24 from 10 to 10:30 a.m. The topic is building a learning community using CampusWire. Updates
TA Training requirements receive an update
UCLA is transitioning to a hybrid delivery model for the TLC’s Foundations of Teaching curriculum effective Fall 2024. The curriculum will now be embedded in 495 courses instead of delivered through 90-minute workshops. The TLC will continue to offer workshops on a range of topics to support the ongoing professional development of graduate student instructors, but will not offer live workshops covering the Foundations of Teaching curriculum during the 2024-25 academic year. Improvements made to the TLC Test Scoring Service
The TLC has made improvements to our free Scantron test scoring service.
- The Test Scoring Office is now located at 80 Powell Library and has a new email address: testscoring@teaching.ucla.edu.
- You will now be able to schedule, reschedule, and/or cancel test scoring appointments directly using the following Calendly link: https://calendly.com/tlc_testscoring/test-scoring-appointment
- Scantron forms will now be provided to departmental offices for you to easily acquire them before exams. Please coordinate with your department staff to determine how to pick up Scantron forms before your exams. If you are unsure who to contact please let us know and we can provide you the appointed person’s name and office for pickup.

Educational Innovation Grant applications now open
The TLC has opened applications for two types of Educational Innovation Grants, with additional offerings coming soon. These grants are designed to elevate teaching by equipping instructors of record with resources and support to enhance their teaching practices and advance innovative, engaging, and equitable instructional approaches. SEP Pilot Program accepting applications for winter quarterTLC’s Student Experience Project (SEP) Pilot Program is now accepting applications for winter 2025 quarter. SEP is a national collaborative network of public universities and scholars dedicated to improving the college experience for all students by engaging instructors through communities of practice. Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22. Those interested in participating can attend the information session on October 16 at 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. via Zoom.
