3-4 p.m., November 13 | Powell 190

As part of the Instructor Wellbeing Initiative, the TLC will facilitate a book club for dear elia: letters from the Asian American abyss by Mimi Khúc. Participants will discuss what “unwellness” means to them; reflect on their own sense of wellbeing, as well as how that relates to their positionality within the university; and explore strategies for care-centered pedagogy.

You may purchase the book through Duke University Press or access a PDF of the introduction online. You may read Dr. Khúc’s interview with The Guardian or listen to her on the UnLivable Cultures podcast for an introduction to her work.

You do not need to read all of dear elia to participate in our conversation, but a free copy of the book will be provided for the first 10 registrants. This event is open to all instructors, including graduate students and postdocs.
