UCLA Teaching Symposium: Adapting Instruction in the Age of AI

June 10, 2026

This full-day event will provide a forum to thoughtfully examine AI’s evolving role and impact on teaching and learning. Panel discussions and flash talks will bring together experts to explore practical, ethical, and equitable uses in instruction from a variety of perspectives, while a keynote speaker will examine the implications of AI in higher education. The day will close with a technology exposition to demonstrate various tools and opportunities for instructors interested in responsibly integrating AI into courses. More details to come.

The annual awards celebrate teaching excellence and elevate the practice of teaching at UCLA. This year, six awards will be presented to each group of Non-Senate Faculty and Senate Faculty. Award nominations for Teaching Assistants closed on February 6. Learn more

Course Accessibility Accelerator

Applications close March 9

Get support for developing digitally accessible instructional materials by participating in this program that walks UCLA instructors through a structured process for updating and creating materials for online, hybrid, and in-person courses. Participants must be instructors of record with a course assigned in the summer or fall quarters. 

The six-week program will involve weekly Zoom meetings, in-person working sessions, and optional drop-in hours with instructional designers. Participants can expect to spend up to five hours per week meeting, updating course content, and revising assessments.

Dialogue across Difference Faculty Fellows Program

Applications due April 1 at 5 p.m.

The TLC and the Dialogue across Difference Initiative have opened applications for the third cohort of the year-long Dialogue across Difference (DaD) Faculty Fellows Program. Participants have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from across the university and build capacity for supporting dialogue across difference in their classrooms. Learn more about the program

Designing Your Online Course Spring Workshop

Applications due April 3

April 17–May 15 | Zoom

Explore effective instructional practices and kickstart the design of a course that is accessible and welcoming to all learners. This workshop is for any instructor designing a new course or redesigning an in-person course for the online modality (either synchronous or asynchronous). 

The five-week workshop includes five synchronous sessions, asynchronous activities, and individual meetings with an assigned instructional designer. Workshop participants should expect to spend two hours each week meeting with their instructional designer and completing asynchronous activities. Instructors who complete the workshop and module are eligible for an award of up to $500.

The TLC is hosting a three-part AI Tools for Teaching Workshop Series to support instructors interested in thoughtfully exploring how to use Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in their teaching. This workshop (the second in the series) will explore how Google NotebookLM can be used to curate, organize, and connect course materials into interactive knowledge bases to enhance student engagement. Developing Professional Competencies with AI-Informed Assignments

Part of the Human-Centered Assignment Design in the Age of AI series

This workshop series will prepare instructors to rethink the design of their assignments and learning goals in light of AI’s impact. In this workshop, participants will reflect on essential professional competencies in relation to how AI could be used in future workplaces. Participants will then revise an assignment to develop a set of goals and an assignment rubric targeting the development of career-ready skills. Register here

Delivering Meaningful Feedback Quickly and at Scale
